Christmas Caring Tree Provides Gifts For Children
The Christmas Caring Tree, a program that provides gifts to children who would otherwise go without, will once again be on display at the Minden Community Center.
This annual Christmas gift giving program is for children ages 14 and younger, and is sponsored by Community Action Partnership of Mid-Nebraska. It is open to families who qualify under income eligibility guidelines.
The tree will be decorated with ornaments designating ages, sizes, genders and specific gift requests of the children of the families who enroll in the program. Families are asked to suggest gifts that cost $25 or less.
The tree will be on display through Dec.17 for community members to sign out an ornament.
Families may sign up now to be a participant in the program.
For more information, or to schedule an appointment to register for the program, contact Barb Braun at 832-1167.
Another program available is the Christmas Dinner Basket program, sponsored by the Kearney County Goodfellows and the Lions Club. The baskets include meats, canned vegetables, pies and other foods-enough for a Christmas dinner. Registrations for the dinner basket program are also accepted through Dec. 10. The Christmas Dinner Basket program is available to Kearney County residents only.
