The Minden City Council approved the purchase of a new air compressor for the roads department and the one and six year road plan at their regular meeting on Monday, February 2.
Minden’s Street Superintendent Chris Klahn presented the council with information on a proposal from Nebraska Machinery for 2015 Sullair Portable Air Compressor unit for $15,500. Klahn indicated to the council members and the mayor that the existing portable air compressor the city owns is a 1985 model and the maintenance costs on it have been high for several years. “It runs, but we need something more reliable. We use it for crack sealing on the streets and when we run jackhammers to reach main breaks or sewer problems,” Klahn said.
