City Council Approves Tree Giveaways
The Minden City Council met on Tuesday, September 6, and approved a request by the tree board to give away 200 trees from Minden West Estates.
After role call and the Pledge of Allegiance, they discussed the Consent Agenda. There were bills from Big John’s Ford for an engine flush on the Police Department’s 2006 Crown Vic, as well as a diesel oil change. There was also question about a $37 communication bill at the pool. Excel Development charged the city $2,200 for landscaping work done on trees at the duplexes. There was also a bill for a ruptured fuel tank that needed to be replaced. The council also agreed to give the Sumstine’s zoning change the same discount Ron Russell received, paying half of the fees for signage required when there is a zoning change.
After discussion, the council approved the consent agenda. The council also approved the appointment of Matt Cederburg as Alternate Representative to Member’s Council of the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool, and also approved his appointment as Representative to the Public Alliance for Community Energy.
The council then approved LB 589 to close streets and highway for October Bandfest. The bandfest is entering its 21st year, with approximately 1,400 students participating, and 30 or more bands. The city will rent the necessary signs for the streets affected.
