Actions were taken by the Minden City Council to expedite a micro data processing project with Compute North during a special meeting on December 8. Immediately following a Planning and Zoning meeting on the same topic, the council meeting opened with a public hearing for an application submitted by Ruth Katherine Firth, formerly Ruth Katherine Grimes, and Gary Firth to rezone a section of property from an Agricultural District to an Industrial District.
The property located east of 33 Road and North of N Road is a one lot subdivision that Compute North would like to use to build a micro data processing center. Darren Robinson from Compute North spoke in favor of the rezoning. In addressing concerns raised by residents during the Planning and Zoning meeting, he also stated Compute North would work to include a checks and balance system for noise mitigation in the agreement with the City of Minden.
