Minden Police Chief Jim Huff accepted several boxes of Girl Scout cookies from representatives of Cadette troops 645 and 7783 during the June 19 regular meeting of the Minden City Council. The two troops chose Minden Police Department and Kearney County Sheriff’s Office to be recipients of their gift of sharing donations from this year’s cookie sales. The presentation was made by Fran Muir, Olivia Sheldon, Lilly Buntemeyer, and Carissa Buntemeyer.
In his announcements, Mayor Ted Griess revealed that the City had sent a letter to Senator Deb Fischer concerning water infrastructure financing. He shared the response received from the senator which explained a possible decrease in the funding available in the future. Griess encouraged citizens to send their own comments to Senator Fischer about the importance of water infrastructure financing and the plight of rural Nebraska regarding a decrease in funding.
With that completed, the council got down to business. Two separate policies currently make up the City’s Pension Plan. To simplify matters for both the City and its employees, the council was asked to terminate policy GP 8324 and combine the two accounts. Gordon Amstuz attended the meeting to answer questions about the proposal. After clarifications, resolution #1663 terminating Pension Plan GP 8324 was approved.
