CLJMS 2023 Short Film ‘Night at the School’
‘Night at the School’, a short film created by Whitney Maulsby’s Journalism students, will premier on Tuesday, March 14 in the Minden Public Schools Auditorium. The promotion team comprised of Maulsby’s Linguistics students played on the nighttime theme to inform the public of the red carpet event.
“We based it off The Tonight Show and since the film is called ‘Night at the School’, we did The Midnight Show,” Chloe Osborn said.
Starring Osborn and Autumn Johnson, The Midnight Show was filmed on the MPS Auditorium stage in front of a live audience of their peers. Osborn and Johnson interviewed teachers who starred in the 2023 short film and released the official trailer. Returning to the live show, their fellow classmate Treven Keen got the hosts back on track to announce details of the premier.
“When the two hosts were too busy talking about the trailer, I had to intervene,” Keen explained.
The comedic faux talk show, including the ‘Night at the School’ trailer, can be viewed on the Whippet Na- tion Network YouTube channel. The Linguistics class has enjoyed their task of promoting the film and the cre- ativity the project has allowed them to express.
“Getting to do something and be important and get- ting to help and be a character is really fun,” Johnson said. “Mrs. Maulsby puts so much work into it. She’s the one who actually made the trailer and she’s just amaz- ing. If we have an idea, she is there to support us all the way.”
