Close Contest End in Whippet Victory
Minden’s boys eked out a 50-49 win at Wood River on February 9 to get the record back to .500 at 10-10.
The Whippets were cruising along in the first half leading 14-8 at the end of the first quarter (Caden Bradley scored six) and expanding the lead to 29-15 with two minutes remaining in the second period. Then the Eagles used a 7-0 run to cut Minden’s lead at halftime to 29-22. Bry- cen Schwenka (4), Austin Lutkemeier (4) and Seth Hauserman (3) led the scoring in the second.
In the third quarter
the Whippets briefly led
by eight, 32-24, but Wood
River started raining
threes and the game was on. A 12-1 run put the Eagles up 36-33 at 4:13. The period ended with the teams tied at 43-43. Schwenka (7), Braiden Schroeder (4) and Jake Ryan (3) got the Whippets’ points in the quarter.
