Community Center Exceeds $10,000 Goal
The generosity of the citizens of Minden will make daily life much easier for its senior citizens.
Not only did the Minden Senior Center Restroom Renovation project achieve its goal of raising $10,000 by December 1, they exceeded it by $1,400.
This is welcome news for the many senior citizens of Minden who use the center daily for the noon meal and have had to deal with restroom facilities that were barely accessible to those needing walkers and wheelchairs for mobility.
Meeting the Dec. 1 deadline with $10,000 was critical for the center to receive a matching grant from the Rogers Foundation for the project.
Through the efforts of organizations like the Minden Community Players, the students of C.L. Jones Middle School, bake sales and private donations, the senior center will soon have two new restroom facilities with wider doors, two stalls, tile floors and new fixtures.
Renovation work is slated to begin after the first of the year.
