Costly Repairs May Be In Minden School’s Future

A building and grounds report by Dave Schoone was nothing but bad news for the Minden Board of Education Tuesday night.
In his report, Schoone touched upon several building issues that the school would be facing the future.
In the short term, the 15 year old heating and cooling unit at C.L. Jones has drained the $75,000 summer projects budget more than anticipated, Schoone said.  A build-up of accumulated dirt and 15 years of the elements has taken its toll on the air conditioning and heating units mounted on the roof.  The cost of cleaning and maintenance of the units has turned into more than we anticipated. “We have insulation wrap off the pipes and the units are packed with dirt,” Schoone told the board. “The repairs have been more than we realized.”
