Council Chairman Larry Evans ran the February 21 Minden City Council meeting in the absence of Mayor Ted Griess. After approving the consent agenda and hearing the January 2017 treasury and budget reports from City Administrator Matt Cederburg, Evans opened the public hearing of the One and Six Year Street Plan.
Jeff Palik of Miller & Associates presented the plan to those in attendance. The one year plan includes a carryover project from last year to improve drainage on Brewster from Brown to Minden Avenue. New to the one year plan is a grading project on Industrial Drive from Sears to the existing Industrial Drive. The Industrial Drive project includes grading, culverts, and seeding.
Three projects were added to the six year plan. Concrete on 6th Street from Tower to Yates between existing curb and gutter will address surface water and maintenance issues on those two blocks. Paving Country Club Drive and installing curb and gutter was added to the long term plans following the new sewer line installation in the area. Concrete and curb and gutter on Industrial Drive was added to the six year plan as well. The plan was changed slightly during the meeting to include not just the new portion but all of Industrial Drive in the paving project.
