The Minden City Council held its first meeting for February on the third in the council chambers with the entire council present.
The major agenda item was discussion and selection of bids for a 25-yard rear load refuse Compatactor Truck (a.k.a. sanatation truck). The city received several bids with Street Superintendent Chris Klahn highlighting two trucks for the council’s consideration.
The city currently has two Leach trucks in its 1997 and 2004 model sanitation trucks.
Klahn laid out for the council the pros and cons for the Leach and the other consideration was a Heil truck.
After looking at the pricing the Leach truck was $40,000 less than the Heil truck, Councilman Ted Griess stated that savings on the Leach far outweighed the extra money for the Heil. Plus the city has had a good track record with its Leach trucks.
