During the July 1 meeting of the Minden City Council possible changes to a resolution stating full-time City personnel on 24 hour call must reside within six miles of the City’s extraterritorial zoning jurisdiction were discussed.
City Administrator Matt Cederburg explained the City has recently been going through the hiring process for utility workers. Only a few applications were received and one applicant is a Kearney resident. He asked how the council would feel about on-call workers living in Kearney.
The council indicated it was in favor of changing living restrictions for utility workers. The changes wouldn’t apply to the Police Department but should encourage a larger pool of applicants to choose from for other on-call positions. The matter will be put on the agenda for action in the near future.
