Council Done With Chicken Discussion

In honor of International Firefighters Day May 4, Mayor Ted Griess opened the regular City Council meeting with a big thank you to the Minden Fire Department on behalf of the citizens of Minden. He also thanked the Tree Board for their efforts planting trees at the cemetery for Arbor Day.

Surveyor Trenton Snow explained to the council about a preliminary plat on the agenda for consideration. Marc and Melissa Willis purchased land south of town and would like to create two separate lots of 2.6 acres each. Snow noted the proposed lot sizes are good sized for building.

They met with the Planning and Zoning Commission on April 22 and the preliminary plat was approved. The property falls within the City of Minden’s jurisdiction making the platting approval a City decision, not a Kearney County decision.
