Council Meets For Grant Application For Kearney County Health Services

The Minden City Council held a special meeting June 28 to consider approval of the City’s application for Federal Assistance in the form of a grant in the amount of $300,000 from USDA Rural Business and Cooperative Development Service’s Rural Economic Development Loan and Grant (REDLG) Program to create a revolving loan fund and to loan grant funds to Kearney County Health Services.
New Medicare regulations that will be enforced starting January 2018 require digital X-ray usage by health service facilities. Noncompliance with the new regulations will cost KCHS a 7 percent pay cut from Medicare. While looking at updating equipment to remain in compliance, KCHS officials were informed that the Radiology Department layout isn’t conducive to a new machine. The space is already tight and inconvenient for patients as well as staff.
