The Minden City Council held their final meeting of the year on December 16. Mayor Ted Griess expressed his gratitude on behalf of the community to Police Chief Jim Huff for more than 40 years of service on the police force. He announced Huff’s last day with the department will be December 27 and invited the public to attend a retirement celebration for the Chief on December 27 from 2-4pm at the Minden Fire Hall.
Mayoral appointment of Huff’s replacement as Police Chief for the mayor’s remaining term of three years was scheduled to take place during the meeting. Griess informed the council that item would be skipped because the candidate has declined to accept the position.
Upgrades to the Water Treatment Plant were on the agenda for consideration. Darin Fischer explained the need for SCADA computer and software upgrades, SCADA radio, and PLC hardware upgrades.
