The Minden City Council took the first step to improving road conditions at the highway approach on 25 Road during the September 21 regular meeting.
A 60 foot stretch of roadway from the railroad south has become deeply rutted as a result of the heavy truck traffic to and from KAAPA. Street Superintendent Chris Klahn told the council the base is gone so a quick overlay won’t be an option to repair the damage.
The approach wasn’t included in the most recent maintenance project on 25 Road because extra permits and permission from BNSF Railroad are needed to work on the railroad right of way. A letter of agreement amendment #2 with Olsson Associates includes surveying, designing, and railroad permit application for improvements to 25 Road.
