Council Urges Public To Wear Masks With Resolution

The Minden City Council considered a resolution to encourage citizens to wear masks during the first regular meeting of the year on January 4. The amendment was written by Councilman Jack Yant after suggesting the council show its support of wearing masks with such a document at the previous meeting.

Before taking action on the resolution, the council approved an amendment to add language stating the resolution will expire when the CDC announced the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic is over. Resolution 1711 urging citizens and visitors of Minden to wear masks to help slow the spread of COVID-19 was approved with the additional language.

A property condemned and with orders to proceed with demolition was reconsidered by the council following a presentation by Esmeralda Sanchez. Sanchez informed the City in late December that she was signing a purchase contract for the property located at 531 E. 4th Street. Upon request from the City she provided a rehabilitation plan for the property.
