Council Wants Public Input Before Approving Curfew and Restricting Park Access
Will a curfew and closing the city parks at night help put an end to vandalism in the city of Minden?
Minden City Councilman Ted Griess wants public comment concerning a city curfew on youth under sixteen years of age and closing the city parks at night before considering the drafting of city ordinance.
An ordinance that would establish a 10:00 p.m. curfew on youth under sixteen years oldĀ was presented to the council by City Administrator Brent Lewis for discussion.
The curfew was drafted to address the issue of vandalism and give law enforcement an edge in enforcement of juvenile crime.
The council debated the age restrictions and hours in the ordinance, taking into consideration school activities and employment of youth in the community.
