County Attorney Korth Resigns In Favor Of Department Of Health And Human Services

The Kearney County Board of Supervisors approved the resignation of County Attorney Neleigh Korth at their meeting on Tuesday, July 17.
According to Korth’s letter of resignation, she “had every intention of remaining in Minden through 2014 (the term length for county attorney)” but had been “presented with an opportunity to better myself and to further my career which is too good to decline.”
Korth explained to the board she had been offered a position at the Department of Health and Human Services, which she turned down two months ago. “They came back with an offer I couldn’t say no to,” she said.
Deputy Attorney Brian McQuay said the board is not required to advertise the position but he advised the supervisors to advertise the opening and “give it a couple weeks.”
Supervisor Roy John Nelson asked Korth if the workload is sufficient for a full-time attorney.
