County Board Sets Levy Date, Approves Budget

f Supervisors held public hearings on the fiscal year 2013-2014 county budget and the tax levy during their regular meeting on September 17. With no proponents or opponents of the budget at the hearing, the Board approved the 2013-2014 Kearney County budget with a total of $2,663,841 in tax askings. The Board also passed a resolution to set the 2013 tax levy at 0.279170, down from the 2012 rate of 0.328451.
The Board approved a one percent restricted funds authority. Board Chairman Richard Schwenka said that the maximum limit of one percent is set by state statute and by passing the resolution the Board now has the means to add another one percent if necessary.
