A public hearing on the intent to use CDBG-Economic Development Program income was held during the June 2 regular meeting of the Kearney County Board of Supervisors.
Sharon Hueftle from SCEDD explained the County intends to grant two kinds of loans to area businesses from reuse funds received in 1997. This process will keep the dollars local and save the County from turning the funds back into the state. With no further comments the hearing was closed.
The supervisors adopted resolutions and approved updated documents relating to the block grant. Loan applications were approved for Cozy Corner Cafe, 3D Bar & Grill, and McCann-Carpenter Dental. Each business will receive a $20,000 loan that will be forgiven once all criteria are met.
