DAWG Days 2011

Minden held its annual DAWG Days Celebration on Saturday, July 30.
Events kicked off with a fun run and walk in the morning. Participants started at the outdoor classroom. There was a sand volleyball tournament at the Minden Miniature Golf course immediately following the run.
The heat and humidity picked up just in time for the tractor show in the square. There were booths with food and water and a dunk tank. There was also an event trailor for families at Chautauqua Park. In the afternoon, awards were given to the best presented tractors before they proceeded with the tractor parade that went around the square before continuing down 5th St.
A crowd gathered on the courthouse lawn to watch the bed races. Mayor Roger Jones was on hand to start each team. Three teams competed, racing against the clock to make the bed, push them to the finish line, approximately 50 yards away, and then fold up the linens.
