Deanna Bergstrom
A Private Family Graveside Service and Inurnment for Deanna K. Bergstrom will be held at the Fridhem Cemetery in Funk, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating.
Deanna Kay Bergstrom, 81, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of rural Wilcox, Nebraska, died on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Deanna was born on August 29, 1940, in Holdrege, the eldest of three daughters, born to Kenneth “Kenny” and Jeanne (Moore) Anderson. She attended and graduated from Axtell High School with the class of 1958.
On February 27, 1960, Deanna was united in marriage to Gayle Bergstrom at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Axtell, Nebraska. The couple made their home on a farm northwest of Wilcox and were blessed with three children: Brent, Holly, and Jill.
Deanna loved being a farmwife and all the duties that came with it. She was a wonderful seamstress and loved to garden. She enjoyed singing, bowling, and dancing.
She was a member of the North Lake Club, the Democratic Women and Fridhem Lutheran Church where she served in many capacities including; church council, she sang in the choir, and taught Sunday school.
Deanna always had a positive attitude and would help to bring a smile to your face. She was partially paralyzed but never let that hold her back. Deanna always had a great spirit and continuously found ways to help lift others as well.
Deanna was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gayle in 2019; one niece, Lisa Weis; one nephew, Trevor Arnt; one sister-in-law, Shirley Hargis; and brothers-in-law, Everett Nitchie, Lester Harmon, and Arthur Arnt.
She is survived by her three children: Brent Bergstrom and his wife, Cindy of rural Wilcox; Holly Artz and her husband, Brent of rural Wilcox; and Jill Guthrie of Hildreth, Nebraska; eight grandchildren: Ryan Bergstrom and his wife, Jennifer; Amanda Struckman and her husband, Joshua; Chad Bergstrom and his wife, Samantha; Emily Bergstrom; Hailey Artz; Hannah Artz; Riley Guthrie and his wife, Jenni; and Melissa Guthrie and her fiancé, Ethan Nelson; six great-grandchildren: Lucas, Lexi and Ella Bergstrom; Isaac and Levi Struckman; Liam and Quinn Bergstrom; and Brynn and Jace Guthrie; her two sisters: Carol Reed and her husband, Larry of Kearney, Nebraska and Kathy Weis and her husband, Darrel of Kearney; two sisters-in-law: Donna Harmon of Holdrege; and Nancy Arnt of Littleton, Colorado; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Hargis of Holdrege; along with nieces, nephews, and extended family.
There will be no visitation or Memorial Book Signing, the family is honoring her wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Deanna’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
