Delores Adam

Funeral Services for Delores A. Adam were held on Monday, August 3, 2020, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska with Pastor Craig Cedar and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.  Interment will follow at the Wilcox Cemetery at Wilcox.

Delores Ann Adam, 88 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox, died Sunday, July 26, 2020, at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Delores was born on October 28, 1931, south of Wilcox, Nebraska, in Franklin County, the fourth of five children, to Clarence and Selma Sophia (Lippstreu) Lienemann.  She received her primary education through the 8th Grade from the Pleasant View Rural School in the Ash Grove Township and then attended Wilcox Public Schools, where she graduated with the class of 1949.  Delores pursued higher education from Kearney State Teachers College for two summers and then taught at two Franklin County country schools, for four years.

On May 24, 1953, she was united in marriage to Robert Henry Adam, at the Pleasant View Christian Church and to this union four sons were born: Rodney, Mark, Brian and Neal. The family made their home in the Ash Grove area, where they farmed until their retirement.  She was preceded in death by Robert in December 2010. 

Delores was very involved in Gideons International Auxiliary and enjoyed leading a number of Bible studies over the years. She was known as an excellent cook and pie maker, baked great breads and rolls and was an accomplished seamstress, making beautiful dresses for the granddaughters and suits for her sons. She also enjoyed making a number of quilts and afghan blankets. 

Delores was active in the Wilcox Community Church in numerous roles over the years since they began attending in the late 1960’s. She was known for her hospitality and enjoyed having family and friends, including many missionaries over for great meals and good fellowship.

Besides her husband and parents; she was preceded in death by her in-laws; her brother, Howard Lienemann and his wife, Adella; two sisters:  Edna Lucile Lienemann at the age of ten months; and Eileen Fouts and her husband, Kenneth; three brothers-in-law:  Elmer Adam and his wife, Velma; William Adam and his wife, Ruth; and Fredrich Adam.

Delores leaves to celebrate her life; her four sons: Rodney Adam and his wife, Mary of Nairobi, Kenya, Africa; Mark Adam and his wife, Grace of Wilcox; Brian Adam and his wife, Meesun of Kansas City, Missouri; and Neal Adam of Phoenix, Arizona; 12 grandchildren: Jennifer Fernandez and her husband, Edward of Phoenix; Ben Adam and his wife, Brooke of Tempe, Arizona; Sara Adam and her fiancé, Steven Slywka, of New York City, New York; Suzanna Stagemeyer and her husband, Matthew of Overland Park, Kansas; Levi Adam and his wife, Brooke of Wilcox; Zachary Adam and his wife, Staci of Hyannis, Nebraska; Olivia Nichols and her husband, Robert of St. Joseph, Missouri; James Adam and his wife, Patricia of Garber, Oklahoma; Bethany Adam of Los Angeles, California; Addyson Toner and her husband, Trevor of Melbourne, Florida; Emily Adam of Hastings, Nebraska; and Tristyn Harris of Phoenix; 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Dean Lienemann and his wife, Dixie of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Marian Adam of Holdrege; along with many extended family and friends.

Visitation was held on Sunday, August 2, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox.  

A memorial has been established in Delores’ honor, and kindly suggested to Gideon’s International.
