Funeral Services for Donald E. Frisell were held on Monday, November 9, 2020, at  10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Interment followed at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Donald Eugene Frisell, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020, at the Bertrand Nursing Home in Bertrand, Nebraska. Donald was born November 25, 1925, on the family farm northeast of Ragan in Harlan County, Nebraska, the only child born to Oscar and Millie (Uhrich) Frisell.  He received his education from Ragan Public School, graduating from Ragan High School with the class of 1943.

Following his education, Donald began his lifelong passion of farming with his father.

On June 16, 1946, he was united in marriage to Harriet Marie Ibsen and to this union, the couple were blessed with two sons:  Kent and Steven.  The family made their home on a farm in Harlan County, just north of Ragan, until settling on the family farm southeast of Holdrege in Phelps County.  Donald continued to farm and was proud of the fact to work side-by-side with his sons.  In 1983, Donald and Harriet moved to Axtell, Nebraska, before moving to Holdrege in 1987.  In 2006, Harriet preceded him in death.

Donald’s life revolved around farming and working, and he loved to spend time with Harriet supporting her in her antique hobby.  Many miles were traveled searching for the next antique piece of furniture to restore and place in their collection.  After church on Sundays, Donald introduced his sons to Go-Cart Racing and then Auto Racing.  This led to many years of enjoyment of watching his son, Steven and grandson, Alec race throughout the Midwest.  Throughout the years, Donald was also active in 4-H, supporting his sons and grandchildren showing livestock and dogs.  He served on the Prairie Township Board; the Rural Telephone Company; the Phelps County Fair Board; the Ragan Elevator Board; and was member of the Wheat Growers Association.  Most of all, his family and his faith, were the center of his life.  Donald was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege.

Besides his parents and his wife, Harriet; he was preceded in death by sisters-in-law: Elaine Brady and her husband, Emery; Jeanette Bryant; and Hazel Arterburn; and brother-in-law, Dale Ibsen and his wife, Doris.

Donald leaves to celebrate his life, his two sons: Kent Frisell; and Steve Frisell and his wife, Trudi all of Holdrege; two grandchildren:  Andrea McAllister and her husband, Jason of rural Orleans, Nebraska; and Alec Frisell and his wife, Mollie of rural Holdrege; four great-grandchildren: Gunner Evans; Axel Frisell; and Ethen and Shaelyn McAllister; brother-in-law, Keith Arterburn of McCook, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.  Face coverings will be required.
