VFW Post and American Legion Unit received donations that will improve the Memorial Day services in Heartwell. The donations include 30 flags, ten new flag poles, and a trailer.
Traditionally, local VFW and American Legion members have to borrow a car trailer each year to transport the flag poles out to Eaton and Holy Family cemeteries. They gather the Saturday before Memorial Day to load the poles and organize for the holiday, but the number of members who help load has decreased over the years.
“We have more poles to load with less people to help every year,” Post Commander Matt Cavanaugh said.
