Dorene Hinrichs
Dorene A. Hinrichs, 94, of Hildreth, passed away on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Franklin County Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hildreth with Rev. Caroline Keenan officiating. The service will be live streamed to their Facebook page. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at Craig Funeral Home – Jelden Chapel in Hildreth. Memorials in Dorene’s honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Dorene Amelia Hinrichs was born to Art and Ella (Bunde) Grothen on March 20, 1927, in rural Juniata. She was baptized June 5, 1927 at her Parents’ home in Juniata.
She went to Oregon Trail School District 12 in Juniata from 1st through 8th grade. She attended and graduated from Juniata High School. After graduation she worked at Sears Order Office in Hastings for 10 ½ years. Dorene was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, southwest of Hastings.
On June 26, 1955, she was married to Heye Hinrichs, and to this union two children were born: Marlys and Waldeen. They lived and farmed southeast of Hildreth. On March 25, 1993 they moved into Hildreth.
She taught Sunday School for many years at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hildreth, was secretary/treasurer at Golden Years Center for 17 years, and was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Dorene was a very loving mother.
Dorene enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and going to dances. She especially enjoyed her time dining and helping at the Senior Center, reading newspapers, and watching Game Show Network. Her favorite shows were Family Feud and America Says.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Marlys Stryker; sister-in-law, Edna Sheffield; brother-in-law, Marvin and Irene Hinrichs; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Heye; son, Waldeen; son-in-law, David Stryker; sisters, DeLois Grothen and Joan Stroh.
