Driver Sets Pole Vault Record, 15’4”
The Minden Whippets boys and girls track and field teams traveled to Hastings to compete at the Dale Feeken Invitational on the campus of Adams Central High School on Friday.
The Whippet numbers were down as the teams were missing many participants due to a FBLA conference but Minden still had plenty of great performances.
Senior Craig Driver continued his magical season by setting another new MHS record in the pole vault. Driver cleared 15’4″ on his third attempt. The previous record was set by Driver in 2009 at 14’10.
Driver wasn’t done for the meet. He added silver medals in the long jump and triple jump with efforts of 20’1″ and 40’4.5″.
Driver closed out his meet with a leg in the Dawgs winning 4×100 relay with teammates Lee Landrum, Ryan Chramosta and Dillon Smith in a time of 46.9.
Driver’s efforts gave the Whippets a third place finish in the team standings scoring 76 points. Adams Central won the invite title with 207 points followed by St. Paul with 92.
