Elwin Cook

Elwin “Ray” Cook, 89 of Denton, Texas, formerly of Minden, was born January 4, 1933 and died Saturday, February 5, 2022 at home with family by his side.

Ray proudly served four years in the United State Navy, then served 20 years in the United State Army.

He married Deloris (Soterin) on July 2, 1988 in Minden, Nebraska. In 1999 they moved to Denton Texas.

Along with family, Ray enjoyed game shows, telling jokes, and showing off his unique collection of tee shirts. Ray had a way of making friends with everyone that crossed his path. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Ray is survived by his wife Deloris Cook, step son Jim Black and wife Shannon, from Texas; step daughter Debra Hassler; four grandchildren; Sonia Zimmerman, Brandon Hassler, Brent Hassler, Kendra Roe; ten great grandchildren; Dylan, Devin, Jasmine, Bryson, Brayden, Kelsey, McKenna, Seamus, Gavin and Piper, all from Nebraska.

Military Funeral Services were held Friday, February 25th at the DFW National Cemetery, Honoring Ray’s life.

He was an amazing Husband, Father, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.

We will miss him so much….Until we meet again…He will forever be in our hearts.
