The Kearney County Board of Supervisor continued budget reviews at the August 4 meeting.
A budget reflecting changes suggested by the board during the July 21 meeting was given to the supervisors. With no further changes, the budget will result in an increase to the tax asking of approximately $185,000 from last year. Although valuations weren’t complete at the time of the meeting, they are expected to be down this year.
Options for lowering the tax asking amount were discussed. One option would be to transfer money from Inheritance to the General Fund. Alternatives are to identify projects to be paid directly from Inheritance or remove some projects from the budget.
