Dick and Sally Phillips, Minden
Dick Phillips and his wife Sally moved to Minden in 1967 where Dick was a 6th grade teacher for 38 years before ‘retiring’ in 2003. He started a mowing business for his children in 1982, but kept the business going long after they graduated high school and moved away. When his grandchildren got old enough to start working, they joined the family business, spending summers helping Papa. Currently Phillips Mowing focuses mostly on commercial clients including mowing several cemeteries in Kearney County.
Sally was a nurse in Minden when the couple first moved to town. She mostly quit her career when their kids were born. She has always been very active in church and women’s groups and is a vital part of the mowing company.
