The Minden First Bank Juniors were in a good position after four innings but could not overcome a couple of decisive innings late as Fairfield downed First Bank 12-6 at Bjorklund Field on May 27. The local Juniors fell to 0-4.
Fairfield went up early with three runs in the top of the first but First Bank answered with one run in the bottom of the inning. Isaac Kuehn and Ashton Hawkins hit back-to-back singles and Austin Lutkemeier then doubled home Kuehn. First Bank tied the contest at 3-3 in the bottom of the third when Ethan Morgan singled, Rylan Holsten sac bunted Morgan to second, Kuehn and Hawkins walked, Morgan scored via an error, then Lutkemeier singled in Kuehn.
Fairfield erupted for six runs in the fifth but First Bank attempted to keep it close with three runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jake Halvorsen walked and stole second, Kuehn singled home Halvorsen and eventually ended up at third off of an error, Hawkins singled home Halvorsen and Lutkemeier doubled in Hawkins. After five innings Fairfield led 9-6.
