Falcons, Cats Compete In Dick O’Neill Invite

The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons and Axtell Wildcats thinclads competed at the Dick O’Neill Pleasanton Track Invitational held in Kearney on March 30.
“Due to FFA and FBLA conventions we were short-handed,” stated W-H head coach Ken Meyers. “I felt Emilee Pool and Ben Harms had great days. Caitlin Hinrichs ran good in the 3,200-meters. It was a good meet for us considering the number of athletes we had missing.”
The Falcons placed ninth in the boys team scoring with 16 points. Kearney JV won the boys team title with 153 followed by Alma with 127 and Burwell and Nebraska Christian with 50 points each.
On the boys side, Ben Harms of WH won the pole vault (13’4″) and finished third in the high jump (5’10”).
The Axtell Lady Cats and Lady Falcons placed eight and ninth respectively with 30 and 24 points. Alma won the girls team championship with 82 followed closely by Burwell with 79 and Nebraska Christian with 64.
For the girls, Emilee Pool of WH won the 100 meters (13.0) and placed third in the 200 meters (28.4). Another gold medalist was Hailey Kring of Axtell in the high jump (5’2″). WH’s Caitlin Hinrichs garnered silver in the 3200 (14:34.9).
