Wilcox-Hildreth evened its record at 1-1 on September 8 winning at Hildreth 69-48 over Elwood.
The Pirates led 12-0 in the first quarter before the Falcons got on the board with an AJ Jenkins’ one-yard burst. Bryce Tobiassen’s conversion run ended the first period scoring at 12-7.
In the second quarter, Tobiassen ran in from 37 yards out and Sidney Gruwell booted the two-point conversion giving W-H a 15-12 lead. Elwood took its last lead of the game (18-15) a short time later. Then the next two scores were TD passes of 16 and 66 yards, one from Tobiassen, one from Jenkins, both to Clayton Nichols. Gruwell kicked one of the conversions putting W-H up 29-18. The Pirates responded with a 70-yard kickoff return TD but Tobiassen’s 14-yard scoring run ended the first half scoring with the Falcons ahead 35-24.
