Falcons Edged By Elwood In FKC

The Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons boys basketball team came ready to play in the opening round of the 56th annual Fort Kearny Conference boys tournament in Amherst on Jan. 29.
The ninth-seeded Falcons gave the eighth-seeded Elwood Pirates all they could handle as Elwood rallied in the fourth period to pull out a 41-38 victory.
“Foul trouble hurt us as three players fouled out,” stated WH head coach Dave Mroczek. “Again we led by three with two minutes to play but again we just could not finish.
The Falcons (1-14) were led by Clay Blank with a team-high 15 pounds while Michael Nelson added 10 points and Clint Gardels had nine points and 10 rebounds.
