Wilcox-Hildreth played its final home game of the regular season on October 18 hosting Sumner-Eddyville-Miller. The visiting Mustangs defeated the Falcons 72-26 dropping W-H to 4-3. Wilcox-Hildreth travels to Sandhills Valley (McPherson County/Stapleton—3-4) on October 25 in the final game before the playoffs begin.
S-E-M got out to a 22-12 lead after one period. The Mustangs scored on a 40-yard punt return, a 15-yard run and two conversion kicks before W-H answered with a 48-yard TD pass from Gavin Sheen to Jayden Bauer. S-E-M then responded with a 42-yard TD pass before the Falcons got a one-yard touchdown run from Lane Lieb.
The second quarter found the Mustangs extend their lead to 50-20. The Falcons, however, struck for points first in the period on another Lieb one-yard run and the PAT kick by Logan Knaus, bringing W-H to within two of S-E-M’s lead. But the Mustangs scored four consecutive TDs on three pass plays (2,21,15) and a 28-yard run plus two conversions.
