Falcons Fall To Mustangs

Silver Lake jumped on top of visiting Wilcox-Hildreth right away and steamrolled the Falcons 88-6 on October 2 in Bladen. W-H tastes defeat for the first time, sitting now at 4-1. The Falcons host McPherson County (Tryon) on October 9 for Homecoming.
Sometimes the final result of an athletic contest is a head-scratcher and this one fits that category. On paper, beforehand, the game had the potential makings of a high-scoring shootout. But Silver Lake’s defense prevented the Falcons from getting anything going offensively. W-H actually had negative total yards from scrimmage. W-H played without quarterback Lance Aspegren, going with freshman Bryce Tobiassen in his place.
A late second quarter kickoff return of 75 yards by AJ Jenkins was the lone scoring generated by Wilcox-Hildreth.
