Wilcox-Hildreth defied the prognosticators a bit by opening the season with a 24-6 win over Southwest (Bartley) at Hildreth in an afternoon game on August 27. The Falcons are off on September 3 and next play at Meridian (Daykin, Tobias) on September 10.
Wilcox-Hildreth scored one touchdown and one two-point conversion kick in each of the first three quarters. Gaige Ritner and Griden Ritner both had rushing TDs and Keegan Linden hauled in a 42-yard receiving TD from Grayson Sheen. Logan Knaus scored all of the conversion points on kicks.
The Falcons led 8-0 after the first period and 16-6 at halftime. Southwest’s second quarter TD happened on a 35-yard fumble return.
