Wilcox-Hildreth was dealt its first loss of the season, its first loss in fact since the final game of 2017 (15-game win streak) as Maywood- Hayes Center topped the Falcons 67-47 on September 27 at Maywood. W-H, now 3-1, will attempt to get back on the winning track at Silver Lake (Roseland) on October 4. The Falcons led 14-8 after the opening period. Trey Wenburg gathered in a TD pass from Gavin Sheen, the play covering 54 yards. Macyn Yeutter kicked the conversion. M-HC came back with a 14-yard TD run and kicked the conversion. Then Triston Nicks ran in from the three but W-H’s kick failed.
M-HC outscored the Falcons 14-12 in the second period but W-H still led at halftime 26-22. The Wolves got a three-yard TD run and the conversion kick to go ahead. But Sheen found Wenburg again, from three yards, and although the kick failed, W-H was again on top. M-HC answered with a 15-yard TD pass but no conversion. Then the Falcons closed the first half scoring with a Sheen-to-Nicks 24-yard TD pass.
