Falcons Top Amherst in Regular Season Finale
The Wilcox-Hildreth boys headed into postseason play with a bit of momentum as they knocked off Amherst 51-30 on Friday in Amherst. The win was the second in a row and upped their record to 7-12 to close out the regular season.
The Falcons completely dominated the action in the first half. W-H led 11-3 after one period. Although only scoring seven in the second quarter, the Falcons shut out the Broncos during those eight minutes and so took an 18-3 lead into the locker room at half.
W-H extended the advantage in the third, topping Amherst 13-8 to set the score at 31-11 through three periods. Both teams lit it up in the fourth but the Falcons again held the edge, 20-19, and were able to roll to the comfortable victory 51-30.
Clay Blank accounted for almost half of W-H’s scoring as he put up 24 hitting seven threes. Clint Gardels had a great all-around game with 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists.
