Fire Destroys Rural Home
Fire completely destroyed a house in rural Kearney County Monday night.
The Minden Volunteer Fire Department responded to the report of a structure fire two miles east and one mile north of the intersection of Highway 10 and the 50 A link at approximately 8:45 p.m Monday, Feb. 21.
The wood frame house at 2120 34 Road is owned by Raffety Land Co., and was reportedly rented to Brian Jacobs.
The fire was reported by the renter who returned home to discover the house in flames.
The cause of the fire is undetermined and is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
Minden Fire Chief Chris Klahn stated that when fire fighters arrived at the scene the house was fully engulfed, with flames shooting through the roof and the windows of the house.
The house and its contents were a total loss, reported Klahn.
Twenty-one Minden Fire Fighters responded with mutual aid from two Kearney Fire Department water tenders with four firemen, and water tender from Gibbon and 10 responders.
The firemen were on the scene for approximately three and one half hours.
