Minden First Bank came back from a five-run deficit to defeat Gothenburg 8-7 on July 7 at Ollie Bjorklund Field. The Juniors’ record moved to 2-6.
Gothenburg led 5-0 after the top of the fourth before First Bank got the comeback underway with three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Evan Smith singled, Nolan Reed and Rylan Holsten walked, then Dallan Thompson walked to bring in Smith. Lucas Epperson was hit by a pitch to plate Reed and Carter Harsin walked to score Seth Hauserman (pinch running for Holsten).
Gothenburg scored a run in the top of the fifth then First Bank got three more in the bottom of the inning. Smith and Isaac Kuehn singled and were brought home by Reed’s triple. Reed scored on Epperson’s sac bunt making the score 6-6.
