The Kearney County First Bank Seniors picked up a pair of midweek wins as they overcame a big deficit to top Kearney Little Caesars 11-10 at Bjorklund Field on June 28 and had a somewhat easier time of it at York in a 16-5 win on June 29. First Bank’s record hikes to 7-9.
Little Caesars led 8-0 through two and a half innings before First Bank got its comeback underway. FB plated four in the bottom of the third to close to within 8-4. Two walks, two errors, a hit-by-pitch and a fielder’s choice combined to account for the four runs.
Little Caesars made it 9-4 in the top of the fifth but First Bank edged quite a bit closer getting four more runs in the bottom of the fifth putting the score at 9-8. Jonathan Miller tripled and scored on a single by Cody Nickel. Quentin Journey walked and Nickel scored off a double by Josiah Lovin. Journey scored on an error then Keller Koch singled home Lovin.
