The Kearney County First Bank Seniors picked up a pair of wins to go two games over .500 (13-11) as they defeated Overton 12-1 on July 15 and Gothenburg 4-2 on July 16.
In the win at Overton, pitcher Matt Exstrom stifled the Overton hitters allowing just one run on one hit and two walks while striking out 10.
The First Bank offense took a little while to get revved up but once it did the runs were plentiful, especially in a ten-run fourth inning.
The game was scoreless through two innings then FB struck for two runs in the top of the third. Jonathan Miller worked a lead-off walk and advanced to third on a Cody Nickel single and a Sturgis Hanson fielder’s choice. Nickel and Hanson were erased on the bases then Adam DeLaet walked putting two runners on. Josiah Lovin belted a two-run double giving FB the lead.
