The First Bank Seniors began the 2016 summer schedule with a 5-2 win over visiting Central City at Ollie Bjorklund Field on May 27.
The contest was scoreless through one and and a half innings, but First Bank broke through with two runs in the bottom of the second. Sturgis Hanson singled, advanced on an error off the bat of Josiah Lovin and scored the first run on Matt Exstrom’s sacrifice fly. Lovin advanced to third on a Colton Maxwell single and scored on a fielder’s choice off a ball hit by Keller Koch.
Central City plated one in the top of the third via a walk and two singles to cut First Bank’s lead to 2-1. FB, however, followed that up with two more runs in the bottom half of the third. Jonathan Miller walked, stole second and came home on Cody Nickel’s single. Nickel then scored after a single by Hanson, a passed ball and another single, this one from Lovin. After three innings FB was up 4-1.
