Holding a 7-2 lead after six innings, the First Bank Seniors held off a late-game rally by Davenport-Edgar to win 8-6 at Edgar on June 25. The season record moves to 5-10.
First Bank scored single runs in the first and third innings to lead 2-0 and then added two more in the fourth to go up 4-0. D-E trimmed the margin in half in the bottom of the fifth and the score was 4-2 after five.
A three-run top of the sixth pushed the lead out to 7-2. Mitch Muller, who swung a potent bat all evening, belted a three-RBI double to clear the bases and stake First Bank to the tentatively safe lead.
