Friends and Neighbors Pitch In To Help With Harvest

The dust was swirling and the traffic heavy near 38 and D Road as combines, trucks and grain carts worked furiously to harvest 480 acres of soybeans in six hours.
Seven combines, eight semi- trucks, four grain carts, and more than 25 friends and neighbors gave up a day of harvesting their own crop to help out a friend and neighbor at a harvest bee on the Tom Meisenbach farm southeast of Minden.
Meisenbach, a life-long resident of Kearney County was diagnosed with Stage III colon cancer in May of this year and has undergone treatments throughout the summer.
Friends Lamoine Aspergren and Paul Nielsen organized the harvest bee to help Meisenbach.
Meisenbach’s sisters, Julie of Beatrice, and Jean, of Hastings, were on hand to help feed the hungry harvest crew.  The sisters packed lunches in brown bags carrying the message, “It is soy nice that you could bee here with us today”.
