Gary Remmenga

  Gary A. Remmenga, 53, of Minden passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Minden United Methodist Church with the Rev. Peter Choi officiating. (Nebraska Husker attire preferred). The service was live streamed to the church’s Facebook and YouTube pages. Interment will be held following services at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Craig Funeral Home in Minden. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be given in Gary’s honor to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of the arrangements.  

Gary Allen Remmenga was born on October 30, 1967 in Lexington, Nebraska to Keith and Bonnie (Schneider) Green. Gary was later adopted by Harold Remmenga. He grew up and attended school in the Elwood area and graduated from Elwood High School. He later continued his education at community college. He faithfully served his country with the Nebraska National Guard. On January 21, 2012, he was united in marriage to Melanie Eckhardt at the Pioneer Village Church in Minden. The couple made their home in Minden where Gary was employed as a spray applicator for Aurora Cooperative at Keene. 

Gary was a member of the Minden United Methodist Church, and was a past member of both the Bertrand and Minden Volunteer Fire Departments. His hobbies included: camping at Harlan County Reservoir, following Husker Football, watching Nic play sports, being with his dogs, and spending time with his family. Gary had an unstoppable work ethic and took great pride in teasing Nic about being a Chiefs fan! 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Melanie Remmenga; sons, Nic Pearson, and Carlie Remmenga; daughter, Brittney (Kyle) Remmenga; granddaughter, Arabella Remmenga; mother, Bonnie Remmenga; step-father, Harold Remmenga; in-laws, Al and Jeneane Crawford, and Galen and Linda Eckhardt; brother, Denny (Crista) Remmenga, niece, Brynna Remmenga; brother, Jeff Remmenga; sister, Misti (Matt) Remmenga-Loughran; nephew, Cooper Loughran; niece, Addisen Loughran; step-sister, Pam Crawford; brother-in-law, Kenny (Mia) Eckhardt; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Keith Green; grandparents, Carlie and Loraine Schneider, and George and Anna Remmenga; sister, Jill Remmenga.
