Gloris Thomsen

Gloris “Charmaine” Thomsen, 91, of Minden passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Bethany Home in Minden. Celebration of life services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker and PMA Julie Schmidt officiating. The service will be live-streamed to the funeral home’s Facebook page. Interment will be held following services at the Minden Cemetery. Memorials in Charmaine’s honor are kindly suggested to Bethany Home in Minden or to Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Gloris “Charmaine” Thomsen was born on December 9, 1930 in Minden, NE to Oscar and Elva (Shogren) Holsten. She grew up in the Norman area and attended school at the Norman school, later graduating from Minden High School with the class of 1948.

She was united in marriage to Wisthi A. Thomsen on September 10, 1950 in Minden, and to this union five children were born: Dwight, Eric, Brian, Kirk and Kent. The family made their home in Minden, where she was employed at Bethany Home, Mason’s Market, Kearney County Health Services and for 17 ½ years at the Ben Franklin store in Minden.

She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden, the Red Hat Society and Danish Brotherhood. She enjoyed going dancing and traveling with Wisthi, attending Red Hat Society get-togethers, and visiting her friends at Bethany Home and Hinterlong. She volunteered at the Opera House, Meals on Wheels and sewing quilts for church that were sent overseas for Lutheran Relief.     

Those left to cherish her memory include her sons, Eric and his wife, Mary, of Beatrice, Brian of Minden, Kirk and his wife, Marian of Hudson, OH, and Kent and his wife, Alice, of Axtell; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended relatives and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wisthi; son, Dwight; sisters, Sheila Walstor and Marlene Castle; and brother, LaMoine Holsten.
