Harold Allen Cayouette, 73, of rural Minden, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022 at his home. Private family scattering of his ashes will be held over the waters of Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Military honors will be presented at the North Harwich Cemetery in Harwich, Massachusetts at a later date. Memorials in Harold’s honor are kindly suggested to the family for later designation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is assisting the family.
Harold was born on May 31, 1949 in North Harwich, Massachusetts to Napoleon and Gwendolyn (Chipman) Cayouette. He grew up on Cape Cod and attended school at Hyannis, MA. Harold entered the United States Army where he faithfully served his country from January 30, 1969 until being honorably discharged on December 24, 1971. Harold moved to Kearney, NE in July of 1999. On June 21, 2003, he was united in marriage to Susann M. Huber. Harold’s life was then blessed with him becoming step-father to Laura Rose, Sarah Ayres, and John Huber. The family made their home in Minden after Harold had retired from his career in electronics.
He loved riding motorcycles, bicycles, kayaking, sailing, and walking the creek on his property. His favorite hobbies included playing guitar and driving his Ford tractor. He would play his guitar for hours and hours and really loved it when his nephews would join him. He loved the outdoors and would always find something that would be fun to do outside.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Susann Cayouette of Minden, step-son, John (Chelsea) Huber of San Diego, CA; step-daughters, Laura (Ryan) Rose of St. Paul, NE, and Sarah (Reid) Ayres of Hastings, NE; six grandchildren; brother, Napoleon (Nancy) Cayouette, Jr. of Palm Coast, FL; sister, Linda Cayouette of North Harwich, MA; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended relatives and close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Paula Greene.
